Engines designed and manufactured by FPT Industrial are providing the power behind the “Machines of the Year 2019”, as proclaimed by the recent SIMA exhibition in Paris. The Quadtrac CVXDrive high-horsepower tractor and Versum CVXDrive produced by Case IH are powered by FPT Industrial Cursor 13 and N45 Stage V engines respectively, helping the machines secure these prestigious exhibition accolades.
The Case IH Quadtrac CVXDrive won its award in the XL tractor category, as judged by a panel of European agricultural magazine editors. The FPT Industrial Cursor 13 engine is the powerhouse within the Quadtrac CVXDrive, delivering both high power and low fuel consumption – a primary attribute that helped secure the award. Performance, robustness and reliability are assured, even in highly demanding operating conditions, while maintenance-free capabilities help to maximize productivity.
Developed specifically for the most demanding heavy-duty needs, the Cursor family of engines provides robust design for highly intensive agriculture applications from 210 to 570 kW. The series complies with emissions regulations and includes innovative contents such as variable-geometry turbochargers, high-pressure common rail injection, new materials and breakthrough after-treatment technologies.
Case IH Quadtrac CVXDrive tractors are powered by an electronically-controlled 12.9-litre Cursor 13 engine, with a single-stage turbocharger on the 470 CVX and 500 CVX models and a two-stage turbocharger on the 540 model.
All Cursor engines share 6-cylinder architecture and EGR-free technology, ensuring optimal engine output with efficient combustion. The result is effective performance and low cooling requirements. Cursor engines are available in 8.7, 11.1, 12.9 and 15.9 litre versions to cover a wide range of applications.
The story of success is similar with the recently launched Case IH Versum CVXDrive range, which won its award in the mid-size tractor category. FPT Industrial’s 4.5-litre turbocharged and intercooled engine for the four-model 100-130hp Versum tractor series meets European Stage V emissions legislation. This compliance has been achieved through HI-e- SCR2 – FPT Industrial’s patented under-hood after-treatment technology, which combines a diesel oxidation catalyst, a PM management component and a Selective Catalytic Reduction system in a compact all-in-one package.
FPT Industrial’s N45 Stage V engine features EGR-free combustion that maximizes power, torque and transient response. In addition, the exclusive HI-eSCR2 maintenance-free after- treatment system ensures low cost of ownership. With regard to technical specifications, the 4-cylinder N45 offers power up to 103 kW @ 1800 rpm and torque up to 630 Nm @ 1300 rpm. The N45 is part of FPT Industrial’s proven NEF series of engines, some 1.7 million of which have been produced since 2001.
